'MISS YOU LIKE HELL' NYC PREMIERE
Quiara Alegría Hudes and Erin McKeown’s new musical Miss You Like Hell has had its New York premiere at the Public Theater, and Shawna Hamic is part of this intimate cast! Reprising the role of Beatriz will be two-time Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega, who starred in the musical’s world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse last fall. Miss You Like Hell takes the audience on a road trip across the U.S. Beatriz is the mother to 16-year old Olivia (played by Gizel Jiménez from Party People), as well as an undocumented immigrant on the verge of deportation. After living estranged from each other for years, the two embark on a journey that could change everything.
Completing the cast of the New York premiere are Danny Bolero (In the Heights) as Manuel, Andrew Cristi (A Christmas Story) as Ensemble, Latoya Edwards (Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical) as Pearl, David Patrick Kelly (Once) as Higgins, Michael Mulheren (Kiss Me, Kate) as Mo, and, of course, Shawna Hamic. Miss You Like Hell features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Hudes and music by singer-songwriter McKeown. With direction by Lear deBessonet (The Odyssey) and choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home), preview performances began in The Public’s Newman Theater March 20, 2018, and the show officially opened April 10. Due to high demand the show has already been extended to play through May 13.
